Ergonomics & Its Human Factors - Fundamentals of Design and Manufacture - Section- A - Amie

                         Ergonomics  &  Its   Human  Factors

*  Any System Will Work Efficiently  if Its Human Operator Can work Comfortably In It.

* Efficiency Of Any Design depends On The Comfort Of Its Human Operator.

* Hence, Comfort Of Humans Is An Very Essential factor of Design.

* A Designer Has To Keep in Mind about Man - Machine Relationship Viz., Called As Ergonomics.

* Its Essential  To Keep In View The Limitations of Human Operator.( The Ease / Comfort With Which He Can Do The Work).

* Environmental Conditions ( Heat , Noise , Safety Considerations) etc  Need Serious Attention.

* Ergonomic Design - The Subject Dealing With Human Aspects & His Working Environment is Known As Ergonomic Design.

*  Ergonomics - It Is an Activity , Which Amis To Improve the working Conditions / Environment Such That The Operator Can Work Comfortably .

* Basic Principals - To Make The Product Easy & Comfortable To Work With -

* Sitting Position At Work -  1st Important thing Which a Designer Should Consider Is Sitting Position.

*  In Cases When It Is Impossible To Consider The Sitting Position Due To The Kind Work / job , Then Only Go For Standing Position.

* " Human Body & Its Limitations " - Always Design A System Keeping In Mind About the HUman Body , Its nature & Its Limitations .

* Avoid All Unnatural Body Positions.

* For Tiring Works - Supports Should Be Provided 0 Such As Soft Rubber Or Felt Lining For elbows, Hands And Arms.

*  Using Both Arms - As far As Possible , Design A System In Such a Way That Both hands Are Used. coz., Continuous Use Of One hand Leads  To Fatigue , & Strain .

* Height of Working Area - It Should Be Designed Carefully Keeping In Mind The Different Humans & Their Body Heights - Both For Sitting & Standing postures.

* Regular Movements - In Jobs Which Requires Frequent Movements Of Hands , The System Should Be Designed In Such A Way The Movements Are As Close As Possible To The Body.

* Working Load - Working load Should Not Exceed Their Load Carrying Capacities .

* Good Lighting - Adequate Light should Be Provided On The Working Area.

* Push Buttons , Knobs , Livers Etc Should Be Designed Properly.
